The ability to display a badge or dot on the app icon depends on your device's launcher, Android version, and the device's ROM.
For Devices with Unsupported Native Launchers
If your device's native launcher does not support unread badges, you can try the following options with BlueMail:
- Use BlueMail's Widget Feature: BlueMail offers a Widget feature that allows you to see the number of unread emails through a 1×1 Unread Count Widget or a 3×3 scrollable widget.
- Switch to the Native Launcher: If you have multiple launchers installed, consider switching back to the native one provided with your phone.
Badge/Dot Behavior on different Android versions
On some Android versions, the behavior of the badge/dot is different:
- Many devices with Oreo only display a "Dot" (indicating unread emails) and do not show a numbered unread badge.
- The badge/dot is cleared when the app's notifications are dismissed from the device’s Notification menu.
As an alternative to Oreo's native behavior, BlueMail offers two types of Widgets that display the number of unread emails: a 1×1 Unread Count Widget and a 3x3 scrollable Widget. These can be configured for any of your accounts.
Adding a Widget
To add a Widget, tap the Apps button on your device or long press on an empty space on your homescreen, then navigate to the "widgets" tab. Scroll to find "BlueMail" and drag the 1x1 or 3x3 Widget onto your homescreen.
