How to Enable or Disable AutoCorrect

Android

AutoCorrect is a keyboard feature that automatically corrects words as you type. You can enable or disable AutoCorrect based on your preferences. Here’s how to manage AutoCorrect settings on Android:

  1. Open your Device Settings.
  2. Navigate to System > Languages & Input > Virtual Keyboard.
  3. Select the keyboard you're using (e.g., Gboard).
  4. Tap Text Correction.
  5. Toggle Auto-Correction on or off.

If your current keyboard doesn't support AutoCorrect, you can switch to a different one like Google Keyboard (Gboard).

iOS

On iPhone or iPad, AutoCorrect helps you by automatically correcting misspelled words as you type. To enable or disable AutoCorrect:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap General > Keyboard.
  3. Toggle Auto-Correction on or off.

In iOS 17 and later, corrected words will be underlined temporarily, and you can tap the underlined word to edit or undo the correction.

If you prefer a different typing experience, you can also install third-party keyboards from the App Store like Gboard or SwiftKey, which offer their own AutoCorrect features and additional customization options.
