BlueMail Attachment Protection

BlueMail has a handy security feature called Attachments & Downloads Protection.
It’s basically an extra safety layer that backs up your regular spam filter. Even if a sketchy email makes it through, this feature helps stop dangerous files from actually opening on your device.

What this feature actually does

BlueMail looks at attachments for common tricks used in malware and phishing emails:

  • Blocks dangerous file types
Things like .exe, .js, or .vbs that can run code on your machine.

  • Warns you about risky archive files
Files such as .zip, .rar, and .7z are often used to hide malware.

  • Flags suspicious filenames
Especially the classic double-extension trick (document.pdf.exe).

  • Works with your antivirus
Attachments get passed to your AV for an extra scan.

All of this helps protect you even when an email looks normal at first glance.

What you should enable

Go to BlueMail → Settings → Security → Attachments & Downloads, and switch these on:

  1. Block dangerous attachments
  2. Warn about risky archives
  3. Warn about suspicious filenames
  4. Antivirus integration

This gives you a solid “defense in depth” setup — multiple layers of protection in case one layer misses something.

Spam filters try to stop bad emails before they reach you.
BlueMail’s attachment protection steps in if something slips through, giving you a second line of defense so you’re less likely to open something harmful by accident.
