Does My Device Support Displaying a Badge/Counter? Getting to Know Our Intelligent Counter

iOSAndroid

The App Icon Counter (badge) provides a quick view of the number of unread emails waiting for you within BlueMail.

Does My Device Support Displaying a Badge/Dot for BlueMail?

BlueMail badge

The ability to display a badge/dot on the app icon depends on the "launcher" used by your device, as well as your Android version and your device's ROM.

BlueMail supports an App Icon Counter for the native launchers of many devices, as well as some popular third-party launchers (like Nova/Tesla, and Apex).

If your device does not show a badge, or if you're not seeing a badge/dot on Android, please refer to alternatives to the native icon badge.

How Do I Configure the App Icon Counter (Badge)?

To configure the App Icon Counter, navigate to Settings | Global Settings | App Icon Counter (Badge).

If your launcher supports the badge, you will have access to the following options:

  1. Display Intelligent Counter:

    • Enabled: Only new unread emails received in your inbox since the last time you opened the account are counted. This allows you to see exactly how many new emails are waiting for you within BlueMail since your last visit.
    • Disabled: All unread emails in your inbox are counted and displayed on the App Icon.
  2. Select Specific Account:

    • By default, emails from the Unified Inbox are used to calculate the Icon Counter. If you prefer to use a specific account instead, tap on this option and select your preferred account.
  3. Reinitialize Unread Counter:

    • If the Icon Counter needs recalibration to display the most updated unread count accurately, tap on this option. This might be necessary if you think the Icon Counter is not reflecting the current state.
